At Pyramid Systems, our internship program is built around a simple principle: interns work on production-bound code, paired with senior engineers, contributing to the federal mission systems Pyramid delivers. No busywork. No isolated side projects. Real federal AI, cloud, and software-engineering work.

This summer, we’re highlighting Rebecca Chen, a 2025 Pyramid intern who joined the team building end-to-end ML/AI data pipeline infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform — the foundational data layer powering federal machine learning workloads.

Inside the Pyramid Internship Program

Pyramid’s internship pairs early-career talent with senior engineers on:

  • Real production work — federal AI, cloud, DevSecOps, identity, and modernization engagements with mission impact.
  • Structured mentorship — defined learning goals, regular check-ins, and feedback loops with senior staff.
  • Cross-team exposure — participation in the firm’s broader cadence (Nexus innovation pods, learning circles, internal initiatives).
  • A path to full-time — high-performing interns are offered full-time conversion at the end of the program.

The internship is the upstream end of how Pyramid builds federal IT talent — complementing our FedsForward partnership, the Nexus program, and the pairing-based delivery model we apply on every engagement.

Rebecca’s Project: ML/AI Data Pipeline on GCP

Rebecca joined the Pyramid team responsible for designing and delivering an end-to-end ML/AI data pipeline on Google Cloud Platform — the data foundation under federal machine learning workloads.

The pipeline spans ingestion, orchestration, feature engineering, training, serving, and monitoring — all built to federal compliance standards. Interns contributed alongside senior engineers on production-bound components, gaining direct exposure to the architecture decisions, code quality standards, and operational patterns that define federal AI infrastructure.

What Comes Next

Pyramid’s investment in the next generation of federal IT talent continues. The internship program runs annually, and partnerships like FedsForward extend Pyramid’s reach to candidates from regions, institutions, and backgrounds that have historically been under-recruited by the federal contracting industry.

For federal agencies that benefit downstream from this talent investment, the value compounds — better-prepared early-career engineers, deeper teams on federal engagements, and a more diverse pipeline of federal IT talent across the broader ecosystem.

Conclusion

Congratulations to Rebecca Chen on her 2025 internship contribution — and thanks to the Pyramid team members who mentored her along the way. The talent that delivers Pyramid’s federal mission work tomorrow is being built by the program today.
